Specialty/Medically Necessary Contact Lenses
Here at Des Plaines Eye Care Center, we carry a large variety of specialty and medically necessary contact lenses. We house hybrid contacts such as NaturalVue and Duette lenses, rigid, gas-permeable contacts that serve as soft lens alternatives, and sclera contacts which function as larger-diameter options. In addition, we provide extensive contact lens fittings for eye conditions such as keratoconus, dry eye disease, severe astigmatisms, and more.
1. NaturalVue – hybrid contacts – used for myopia control
2. Duette – hybrid contacts – combine a GP (or “hard” lens) center and a soft skirt to give you the clear, crisp vision of a “hard” lens and the comfort and ease-of-wear of a soft lens
3. Scleral Contacts – designed to treat a variety of eye conditions. They have a larger diameter than gas permeable lenses and are even used to sometimes treat severe dry eyes.
4. Rigid Gas Permeable Contacts – made of a firm, durable plastic that allows for the transmittal of oxygen. They are a healthier alternative to soft lenses because they do not contain water and hold fewer deposits.
